Passenger Dies Due To Rollover

A passenger was killed early Thursday when the car in which he was riding plunged off Vista Way and rolled over, authorities said.

The victim was between 20 and 30 years old and was not identified.

Police Sergeant Leonard Mata said that the driver,25, was speeding west on Vista Way about 12:20 a.m. and lost control of the car when he approached Rancho del Oro Road.

An officer saw the crash. The car struck a sidewalk rolled several times and finally hit a concrete sign.

The only passenger was pronounced dead at the crash site.

The driver was injured seriously and taken to a hospital for treatment.

He was not arrested, but police said they suspect he was under the influence of alcohol and that he may face drunken driving charges.
