Taxi Crashes Into Horse, Kills Two

January 5, 2006

An accident this weekend has left two people dead and one injured after the taxi that they were riding in ran into a horse in Rosarito.

Patrick Riner, a 21-year-old San Diego State student, was one of six friends who were riding in the taxi. The driver as well as Riner, who was riding in the front seat, was killed instantly in the impact.

The accident took place around 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, October the 15th, said a spokesman from the Rosarito Police Department.

Another victim of the accident has been listed in fair condition, but doctors predict that she will not be able to use her legs. The other passengers in the taxi did not sustain any injuries.

According to the survivors of the accident, the cab driver was speeding well above 80 mph and did not listen to their requests to slow down.

The taxi's headlights were also not working, with only the brights operating. The taxi was speeding down a pitch-black road and the driver was not able to stop before he drove into the horse.
