Wind Blows Horse Into Traffic, Kills Rider

A 52-year-old man riding a horse was killed when a car crashed into him after wind blew the animal into a traffic lane.

Paramedics took Javier Marquez to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center in Colton where he was pronounced dead Sunday evening.

Police say the wind blew Marquez and the horse into a traffic lane.

An S-U-V driven by 35-year-old Vincentino Harris Senior of of Fontana sideswiped Marquez. Marquez fell from the horse and suffered a massive head injury.

The horse suffered minor injuries and was released to Marquez' relatives.
