Helicopters arrived on the scene to aid the most seriously injured victims of the accident. Survivors were taken either by helicopter or ambulances that rushed them to area hospitals.
The victims have been identified as Faro Jahani, 50, of San Francisco, and Martha Contreras, 23, of Santa Maria. Contreras was reportedly seven months pregnant, according to a spokesman from the California Highway Patrol.
