Suspect Arrested For Deadly Hit-and-run Accident

Bakersfield Police have arrested a suspect in the hit-and-run accident that killed an 18-year-old woman over the weekend.

According to eyewitnesses, a 18-year-old Isabel Espinoza was walking down the middle of Kentucky Street in northeast Bakersfield, when an SUV struck her Sunday around 8 p.m.

The driver initially fled the scene going east on Kentucky Street and driving a small, gray Mazda SUV, according to the Bakersfield Police Department.

Espinoza was taken to Kern Medical Center for injuries where she later died.

Sixty-seven-year-old Eduardo Machado later turned himself into authorities, according to Bakersfield Police.

He was arrested for felony hit-and-run and booked into the county jail.
